  1. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale is a quality assessment tool that rates studies in three categories: research group selection, group comparability, and ascertainment of exposure or result of interest. The stars are considered as points provided to each quality item and serve as a quick visual assessment. A study with a NOS score of 7 or higher is rated high-quality; a study with 4 to 6 points ais deemed medium quality; and a study with 0 to 3 points are considered low quality [10]
