  1. The EQ-5D descriptive profile consists of five dimensions (mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression), each of which can take one of three responses. The response record three levels of severity (no problems/some or moderate problems/extreme problems) within a particular EQ-5D dimension. A total of 243 possible health states is defined in this way. Each state is referred to in terms of a 5 digit code (e.g. state 11,111 indicates no problems on any of the 5 dimensions, while state 11,223 indicates no problems with mobility and self care, some problems with performing usual activities, moderate pain or discomfort and extreme anxiety or depression)
