  1. *Factor scoring coefficients are weights produced by the variables (the 8 scales) used to construct the factors (physical and mental). Factor scoring coefficients are based on factor loadings and vary by how much a particular variable contributes to the factor. Variables that correlate highly with a factor have large factor loadings and a larger factor score coefficient. Factor scoring coefficients are multiplied by the z-score for the scales and summed in order to obtain the estimated factor scores.
